The color photo was taken from the street in front of the old post office.
The brick building on the corner of 5th and Ave E, was for sale in 2013 for $490,000. It use to be occupied by the Masons. It now houses a 4000 sq. ft. private residence on the second floor and the Avalanche Newspaper on the ground floor. The Sul Ross administration building can be seen on the hill in the distance.

Patti Hildreth Interior (Formerly, "The Toltec")
This interior was originally the site of the Toltec Bar. The inset photo was taken by Russell Lee in May of 1939 and the cowboy is leaning on the bar pictured in my color photo taken in 2015. The top of the bar appears to be the original but the wood trim and paneling seen in the 1939 photo, are gone.
